FAMILY PORTRAIT
When choosing a photographer to take your family portrait, it's as important ad when you chose your wedding photographer. Most people think all they need to do is call around and get prices to decide who gets to take their family portrait. Most don't even meet the photographer until the day of the session. These could be some big mistakes.
I try to meet everyone prior to their photo session. Meeting everyone ahead of time, especially the children, makes a huge difference. Getting the kids to relax and look natural is very hard. They get to know me and I get to know them. Later, when we do the session, everyone is more relaxed. On the day of the session, it's like we're friends instead of total strangers trying to photograph your priceless family portrait. Oh, and by the way, please do not tell the kids to "smile for the pictures", let us take care of that. If you give them instructions ahead of time, they will usually give us those fake and frozen "cheese smiles". Just let us work with them on the day to create their natural, happy expressions.
This is also the time we start planning for the session. At what location would you like to do the photographs? Would you like a studio portrait or a location portrait in your home, yard, or any other location that is meaningful to you? What kind of clothing; dress or casual?
Wow! I bet you didn't know there was so much planning that goes into doing a family portrait. Just ask yourself these questions; When was the last time we did this and when are we going to do this again? How much will your family change by the next time? Don't let just anyone create this priceless portrait of your family.
Give us a call and let's talk. No cost and no obligation. Honest!
